Hello World! Can you believe August 1st is Monday? This Summer is flying by with school starting in late August for Little Dedicated. I already have her school supplies, but I do need to get the child more clothes. She is growing so fast, that I’m sure she will surpass my height by the time she is in Junior High.
If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen some of the goodies I picked up this week at Home Goods. But, today I want to show off another purchase I made a couple of weeks back.
I picked up this blue faux alligator skin tray, blue and white bowl and gold candle holder. There was more in my basket, but I’ll show that to you another time.
I’m working on lightening up the space since we have so much dark furniture. The plan is to sand the wood floors and stain them a darker color. Since my furniture is big and dark, I plan on putting in a chair rail with moulding on the bottom painted a crisp white to break up the dark wood floors and the dark wood furniture.
I’ve removed the dark tray and dark accessories that were on the table and swapped them out with my new finds.
I’m so drawn to blue and white, that it is hard for me to pass it up when I spot it. The same is going for gold these days. My decor taste is growing bolder the older I get. I still love traditional furniture, but I seem to be gravitating to more color in my accessories.
You can spy the mantel in the hearth room in the picture above. I have plans to paint her black. Black is quickly becoming an accent color for me. Not only is it grounding, but it can add quite the pizazz when needed.
This little baby is so pretty on her own. The gold round handles are unexpected and perfect in my estimation.
It’s wonderful to the touch and is quite sturdy.
The gold is so pretty and shiny and goes so well with my end tables.
This bowl with its basket weave detailing and floral design is great for holding a summer vegetable dish or some woven decor balls.
The Willow Balls I’ve had for years. I believe I picked them up at Pier 1.
The gold candle holder comes with a clear holder to place your candle in the center. The snuffer was purchased years ago. I can’t remember for certain where I got it, but I think it may have been Kirkland’s.
How seriously fun is this?
To round out the tray, is my nod to Summer with a Jim Shore sailboat in cool greens and blues. Another color you just might see popping up in my decor is Kelly Green.
No more being subdued and demure.
It’s time for bold color to take center stage in my house.
Maybe not on the walls, but definitely in my accessories.
Are you Home Goods Happy? I can’t seem to get enough of this store.
