Hello World! Welcome Friends! I know I’ve been a little absent, but I’m busy packing up our house, cleaning and getting ready to move. But, in the meantime, we have a lovely guest post from Jessica Kane! Welcome Jessica!
You enjoy drinking some of your favorite alcoholic beverages from a mug. This sturdy drinkware feels solid and comforting in your hand, and is easy to carry and drink from while networking or socializing. Some well-known and well-used drink mugs include:
The first type of mug that probably comes to mind it the classic beer mug. Most are made of heavy glass, sometimes a thick, wide-ribbed glass. They can be easily placed in a freezer or refrigerator to make sure they are ice cold when you are ready to enjoy a frothy brew of your choice. The beer stein, a thick earthenware mug, is also a well-known, collectible, and more expensive type of drink mug.
The most well known drink that is served from a copper mug is the infamous Moscow Mule. Consisting of vodka, lime juice, and ginger ale or ginger beer, this favorite can be served in a variety of containers, but the all-time favorite is the copper mug. The story is that John Martin, owner of Smirnoff vodka, had an overstock of Smirnoff on hand during the 1930s. His buddy, Jack Morgan, had way too much ginger beer stacking up in storage. A third, unnamed party had an over-abundance of copper cups that were just sitting there going to waste. The three got together and came up with a drink called the Moscow Mule (Smirnoff originated in Russia), and the rest is history.
The hot and comforting drink most individuals think of that is served in clear pedestal glass mug is Irish coffee. Consisting of an Irish whiskey such as Jameson’s Irish Whiskey and black coffee, this concoction will warm you to your heart during the long winter months. Popular concoctions consisting of Kahlua and coffee and Amaretto and coffee are also enjoyed in this type of drinkware. Other coffee drinks include Venetian coffee (brandy, coffee, sugar, and whipped cream), Italian coffee (Galliano, coffee, and whipped cream), and cappuccino mocha (steamed milk, Kahlua, creme de cocao, and cinnamon or chocolate shavings).
The traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby, the mint julep, is served in silver cups. These cups can be very ornate with beaded edges, very plain, or even engraved with names and logos. The classic julep is made of bourbon, simple syrup, and mint leaves.
The solid and sturdy feel of a ceramic mug gives warmth and comfort to those who prefer their drinks to be served in it. Try hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps. This drink is especially popular during football games that are played in the snow or cold and holiday parties. Garnish with whipped cream and a striped candy cane for even more flavor and pizzazz.
As you can very well see, there is a variety of drinks that are best consumed from specific mugs. Try a few of these yourself; the hot ones will be especially well-received and delicious during cold winter months. Put up a special shelf above your bar to display these unique drink receptacles that you know you will use over and over again.
